Rolled-Up Skinny Jeans:
I called it (in last month's newsletter)!
Cropped and cuffed is the new hot trend for jeans! And you don't have
to go out and buy anything.
Take your pair of skinny jeans you already own and roll the bottom up
to below the widest part of your calf. It's a great look with a
fabulous pair of colorful heels. The bold shoes complement the
outfit's clean look without being too fussy.
I especially like pairing these jeans with a Tee and an interesting
fitted blazer.
It's a chic look for day or night with an oversize, long, vintage pendant. |

Floral Skirts:
Shopping with my client from Jacksonville, Florida this past week, we
found so many fun floral skirts.
With the different styles in silk and cotton, the key is to be careful
that the fabric and the floral print don't look cheap. My favorites
were both from See by Chloe. (One is available at Intermix and the
other at Otte). Both have great detailing, like exposed zippers and
ruched waistbands, but most importantly, the print was something you'd
never get tired of. Just put it on with a fitted tee and a pair of
chunky platforms, and you're set for the day.
At night, you can dress it up with a flowy top in a solid color,
finished with a great belt and strappy, high-heeled sandals.
You can find these skirts everywhere, but I prefer to stay away from
big mass market chain stores, since the prints are too recognizable. |
Soften Your Look with Bangs:
In the Obamas' first visit to Europe, Michelle Obama looked graceful
and First-Lady-like without being stuffy. She looked so much more
current (and taller) than even Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, an ex-model! But
what impressed me most was a photo of Mrs. Obama with side parted
bangs, wearing a feminine dress with a nipped waist and pouffed skirt.
The wispy bangs across her forehead created a soft and feminine
finish.
The great thing about bangs is that they make a face look smaller. In
Mrs. Obama's case, as a very tall woman who is slim and athletic, not
waif thin.
I think it's a great idea to accentuate her femininity in dresses that
emphasize the waist. And of course, whenever possible, to show off
those gorgeous arms that she is famous for! |
