Colorful opaque tights:
This is a quick and cheap way to update your look. Pair any fall color opaque tights with a neutral boot/shoe. The safest way to go is a grey tight with black skirt/shoe combination, but you can to a plum/moss/pumpkin with a black/brown/grey shoe and really be ready for fall. Just keep the rest of the outfit pretty monochromatic. I would pair a grey dress with grey bootie with a plum opaque tight. All of need is a large pendant necklace and you're set to go!

Ruffles and Skinny Belt Ruffled tops:
Ruffles are everywhere. The Victorian and somewhat goth trend is not going away. The ruffles can add another dimension to a simple blazer or a cardigan. You can also be somewhat preppy with a shrunken vest which is a more youthful look. Just be sure to keep your neckline open and ruffled tamed. You do not want to have the ruffles overwhelm your neck and face, otherwise, you'll just look top heavy.

I just love this season's Catherine Malandrino's open necked lace/ruffle blouse. The collar stays open and flat and adds just the right amount of interest to either a jeans/cardigan look or a corporate suit for work.
House of Harlow 1960:
Nicole Richie has definitely grown up!

After having her baby, Harlow, she has started her own jewelry and maternity wear line. Now, you might think, who in the world is she to think she can design anything? After all, we all knew that Rachel Zoe was solely responsible for transforming her into a gorgeous sylphlike goddess, but does she have any creativity in her bones? What credentials does she have except that she grew up rich and best friend of Paris Hilton?

Alas, I have to say, I'm impressed! The jewelry line is modern, almost Egyptian, with pieces of leather with gold plated metals. I would definitely don a couple of her pieces with my "real" jewelry anyday. And you should too, even if you're over 40! And with prices between $15 and $300, there is no guilt!
