I heard about an extensive art fair in NYC, can you tell me about it?
As the end all be all of NYC art shows, its THAT time of
year again...The Armory Show
From March 4-8, 2009.
Piers 92 & 94 are home to all things art including some
great new additions. The Armory Show is America's leading fine art fair devoted to the most important art of the 20th and 21st centuries. In its eleven years, the fair has become an international institution. Every March, artists, galleries, collectors, critics and curators from all over the world make New York their destination during Armory Arts Week.
The Armory Show is expanding in size and scope to introduce The Armory Show - Modern, a new section dedicated to international dealers specializing in historically significant modern and contemporary art. With one admission ticket, visitors to The Armory Show will now have access not only to the newest developments in the art world, but also to the masterpieces that heralded them.
Another addition to The Armory Show this year is the launch of its first ever series of public programming in celebration of the City's unparalleled artistic communities in a different neighborhood each night. Events include: special receptions, open studios, art tours, museum discounts, performances, panels, artist discussions and parties. Great way to spend an afternoon or evening, check out www.armoryartsweek.com for further information along with all the satellite fairs. In particular, we recommend Pulse and Scope.
PULSE presents leading international galleries and artists which
showcase the latest movements in contemporary art. Through powerful
architectural environments, the exhibits are designed to serve both seasoned and
emerging collectors. The fair was created to provide a friendly and intimate context for visitors and exhibitors alike.
