CEO, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Melissa Meyers, created "Ask Melissa" by emailing her best-kept service and product provider secrets to family and friends. The word about Melissa’s picks spread quickly, and the list of people requesting her information grew substantially through word-of-mouth. Ask Melissa was born and has evolved into a luxury lifestyle web site and on-line publishing business. Melissa's passion is to help people by sharing her resources and providing easy access for an enhanced lifestyle. Melissa’s core focus areas include art, health, style, travel and other services or products that improve over-all well-being. She truly enjoys researching and sharing her discoveries with others. Melissa's previous corporate experience at Bear Stearns as an Associate Director in Marketing helped her to succeed in starting her own unique company. Her interests and hobbies include collecting contemporary art, tennis, horseback riding, biking, skiing, and yoga. She resides in NYC with her husband and two children.
Amy L. Yallof, President and Chief Marketing Officer
President and Chief Marketing Officer, Amy Yallof, is a seasoned direct marketer and media strategist. Amy has always had a passion for identifying and marketing differentiated luxury and lifestyle products. Amy has been a leading entrepreneur within corporate environments. She spent eight years at Time Inc., working on brands such as Time, Life, Money, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, People and Entertainment Weekly - as well as launching InStyle, Martha Stewart, People en Espanol and Teen People Magazines. Amy consulted for BMG Music Service, Columbia House Video, QVC and The Economist Magazine. In 2007, Melissa recognized that Amy would help enable her to facilitate the next phase of Ask Melissa. It was clear to Amy that Ask Melissa would allow her to follow her passion while helping to build a substantial business. Amy resides in Armonk, NY with her husband and three children. She enjoys running, tennis and fine restaurants.
Pamela G. Weis, Web Master and Director of Special Projects
Web Master and Head of Special Projects, Pam Weis, has been involved with Ask Melissa since the early days when the AM website was only a twinkle in Melissa's eye. During that time she has focused on everything from administration and bookkeeping to graphic design and html. With her innate feel for clean aesthetics and organization, Pam taught herself web design in 2001 and spent five years as a freelance web designer while working part time for Ask Melissa. Previously she worked for POZ Magazine as the Sales Assistant and Production Manager. Pam is currently earning her PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from Rutgers University while continuing to work for Ask Melissa. She enjoys playing music with her former bandmates, international travel, walking the streets of NYC, and has recently discovered horseback riding.
Joanie Pelzer, Director of Operations
Joanie Pelzer is currently Director of Operations for Ask Melissa. Joanie's life experiences gave her the skills to help organize the daily content management for Ask Melissa. In addition, Joanie is a producer and actress in NYC and helps run the Algonquin Theater. Previously, she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Russia, where she focused on business and economic development as well as non-governmental organizations, and helped form a business women's organization. Joanie holds an MBA in Finance/International Business and a BA in Communications and worked for Verizon and American
Express previously. She enjoys running with her chihuahua Hubbell in Central Park, live theater and baking.
Jennifer Wright, Contributing Senior Editor
Contributing Senior Editor Jennifer Wright enjoys researching and uncovering new emerging trends for Ask Melissa. She frequently writes our features and is also responsible for participating in writing the editorial web content. As a girl about town, she reports on high profile New York City events in the "On the Scene" Blog. In addition to her work for Ask Melissa, Jennifer contributes to various other print and online publications on topics ranging from health to dating. She also assesses manuscripts for a downtown literary agency and occasionally appears on the hit prime time show Gossip Girl. She is a supporter of the New York Public Library, the Museum at FIT and Charity: Water. In her spare time, you can find her at her favorite café eating chocolate chip scones and reading books set in New York. |
